Albany County Citizen Corps Council
Harnessing the Power of Individuals to Make Communities Safer & Stronger
A major disaster could occur at any moment and quickly overwhelm the capacity of Albany County’s local response organizations. To recover after a disaster, communities need and depend on having sufficient resources and trained volunteers. Spontaneous unaffiliated volunteers who show up at disaster sites, though well meaning, can slow down the response process and place themselves and others at risk. This is why pre-registration of volunteers is important as it enhances the community’s ability to reach out to appropriate emergency response volunteers as needed to assist with an emergency response. By pre-registering with a response organization, Albany County residents will be appropriately trained and prepared to use their valuable skills, talents and experiences where they are needed most.
The mission of the Citizen Corps is to harness the power of every individual through education, training, and volunteer service to make communities safer, stronger, and better prepared to respond to threats of terrorism, crime, public health issues, and disasters of all kinds.Learn more about our partners
